Entertainment, VR & AR

Capture real locations for spatial content workflows.

Use geometry and visual context from accessible locations as inputs to environment reconstruction, visualization, and immersive content. Agree the production asset requirements and downstream work before capture.

The project challenge

Plan the path from a scan to a usable content asset.

A location scan can provide a geometric reference, but the receiving production pipeline may require cleanup, modeling, texture work, optimization, and testing. Define the target software and performance requirements at the start.

Useful deliverables

Define the record your team needs.

Location reference

Provide spatial context and visible geometry for further environment work.

Appearance inputs

Evaluate colorized data and available imagery against the project’s visual requirements.

Pipeline-ready handover

Agree file types and the downstream conversion, cleanup, and optimization scope.

From planning to handover

A workflow for entertainment, VR & AR.

  1. 01

    Define the production target

Agree software, visual detail, scale, and performance requirements.

  2. 02

    Capture the location

Plan coverage, lighting, access, and occluded areas around the intended scene.

  3. 03

    Prepare the assets

Complete the required reconstruction, cleanup, modeling, and appearance work.

  4. 04

    Test in the target pipeline

Check scale, import, performance, and the visual result in the receiving tools.

Project requirements

Agree these requirements before capture.

  • Deliverable type. Distinguish a point cloud, a reconstructed mesh, and a production asset.
  • Surface appearance. Evaluate lighting, reflective materials, and the quality of visual inputs.
  • Runtime budgets. Agree detail, textures, file size, and optimization needs for the target experience.
  • Rights and access. Confirm permission to capture and use the location and visible content.

Entertainment, VR & AR questions

Are the exports ready to use in every game engine?

Confirm supported import or conversion routes for the selected representation. Cleanup, modeling, and optimization may be required for the target engine and experience.

Is a 3D Gaussian output the same as a mesh?

They are different representations with different rendering and editing requirements. Confirm that the intended software supports the chosen output.
